SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

Humber’s Marketing and Communications department is seeking a motivated Digital Media/Web Specialist to manage and maintain Humber’s corporate web site (humber.ca) while also creating custom applications for our eight academic schools and various departments. The incumbent will apply industry best practices to develop, design, and implement new applications and features, update web content, troubleshoot and resolve performance and related web site issues. The incumbent will demonstrate leadership and teamwork abilities by developing effective web sites, working with open source content management systems (cms), designing graphics for web and print, and showing advanced knowledge of web technologies. Essential duties include: working within the Drupal platform; support existing applications; troubleshooting and problem solving; the ability to hand code; shooting video for various college events and editing the final video for web delivery. This role will support the Marketing and Communications department initiatives and brand standards in all projects, ensuring corporate web objectives are adhered to in all projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will possess a 3 year diploma or degree preferably in Computer Science, Web Development or Multimedia Design & Production along with a minimum of three years of related experience. Additional qualifications include: fluency in PHP, mySQL, Java, JavaScript, XML, FLASH/Action Script 2.0, Adobe Suites CS4, Photoshop and dhtml, xhtml, and working knowledge of 3D software applications will be considered an asset. Advanced working experience with digital video and digital audio production and expert knowledge with Web 2.0 are required. Working knowledge and understanding of Web Metrics also required. The incumbent must possess excellent communication, organizational and problem solving abilities; possess the ability to prioritize and accomplish various projects and assignments simultaneously; demonstrated ability in taking initiative and working as a team member. Must be able to balance priorities and manage multiple projects in a fast paced environment.
