Senior .NET/VBA Developer
Senior .NET / VB6 / VBA developer to work on the ongoing maintenance and development of our flagship application, as well as on various smaller projects.
Skills Required:
• Microsoft Office VBA development skills
• Office 2010-style Ribbon Design skills
• VB6
• VB.NET / C#.NET
• Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2008/2008R2 database development
Products:
• Flagship product is a 3-tiered application with a Microsoft SQL Server back-end, VB 6 DLL application logic middle-tier and Microsoft Access 2003 front-end.
• Blue Link also maintains some native .net applications both with and without user interface elements, such as web services, that communicate with the flagship application.
Projects you'll be working on:
• Migration of Middle-Tier application logic from VB6 to VB.NET – you'll be managing the offshore development team doing the work, and will be responsible for keeping the project on schedule. VB6, .NET class design, and SQL skills are required.
• Application Customization:
o Adding customer-specific features to the application to suit customer requirements. VBA, VB6 and SQL skills are required here.
o Bugfixes, and other application maintenance tasks will also be involved.
o Working with the support desk to resolve issues.
• Migration of User-Inteface elements from Access 2003 to Access 2010:
o Over the next year, a major upgrade to the front-end UI elements of the application will be done, moving the UI from Access 2003 to Access 2010. This project will include adding multi-lingual support, desiging ribbons, and taking advantage of new controls and features made possible in Access 2010 such as drill-through reports, dynamic sorting and filtering, etc.
Other skills:
• Experience working with accounting software and understanding of general accounting would be an asset.
