Developer Needed for Custom Browser Project
Onestop Media Group is looking for a talented addition to software development team, in a contract position. Onestop is Canada’s leading Digital-out-of-Home company, providing solutions from a home-gown software platform unique to the industry.
Onestop is looking for a team member up for a challenge, in a full-time contract position (3 months +) or in a freelance project arrangement- we’re flexible.
The goal: create an updated browser wrapper supporting Flash 10 and AS3 to be used in front-end playback of content in the digital signage platform.
Qualifications:
C/C++ Programming
ActionScript 2 and 3 Programming
Intimate knowledge of Firefox or Chromium
XUL/JavaScript/DHTML
Intimate knowledge of Linux and X.Org
Objectives:
Create test cases to demonstrate sequential flash and video playback in Flash 10, running in Firefox or Chromium on Linux, in a multi-region layout, with playback success reporting.
Create a patch or configuration set against Chromium or Firefox to allow its use as an embedded-safe web browser. This means no window chrome, no toolbars, no status bars, no popup errors. This browser's sole task in life will be to load a default page (or swf file) and display it. There will be no user interaction with the browser. It should be able to run full-screen on X with no window manager. The browser must be able to start the Flash plugin and load related files off the local hard drive.
Linux system customization for reliable startup and operation of this embedded browser. Issues such as browser cache and possible profile corruption should be considered. Current systems use gdm with auto-login.
In addition, updates to the Loader Movie, AdPlayer, and other related Flash libraries will be required for proper operation in the new environment.
