We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Systems / Software Engineer for our Toronto office. Primary responsibilities include development of new data interfaces for a client system in the Bay Area and managing more junior software engineering staff. Candidates must have proven leadership skills as well as strongly team oriented with a desire to tackle new and unique problems.
Responsibilities:
------------------------
• Manage an Intermediate Software Engineer who is responsible for day-to-day monitoring, maintaining, debugging and enhancing existing system interfaces and hardware.
• Design, develop and integrate new interfaces.
• Report on system performance and data quality.
• Plan system improvements based on client requirements and contractual commitments.
• Discuss the needs and technical issues with the Systems team members and leader.
• Working with project manager and other team members to establish and maintain schedules and budgets
• Occasional travel to the Bay Area.
Qualifications:
--------------------
• Minimum 5-10 years experience in Software design, development and integration
• B.S. degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• Expert knowledge of Java.
• Experience with C, C++
• In depth understanding of Internet protocols including TCP/IP, UDP/IP, and HTTP.
• Strong expertise with multi-threaded development.
• Very high coding and technical skills - proven track record of delivering large amounts of high quality, complex code.
• Strong software coding, troubleshooting, and debugging skills
• Excellent leadership and resource management skills
• Strong project management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills
• Outstanding teamwork, written and communications skills
• Microsoft Server 2003
• Self-motivated
