Web Designer – Intern Position
Position description:
This Web Design position required for youth media company. The successful applicant will work with the Web Administrator and be responsible for cleaning up and improving code on our web sites, implementing and writing new code based to improve user experience.
This internship opportunity will allow the chosen candidate to work as an assistant to our Web Administrator for our properties, Vervegirl.com, Youthculture.com and B-Zone.ca. This is a perfect opportunity for a recent college or university student or graduate to establish themselves within a youth media company.
Assistant to the Web Administrator – Intern - Daily Tasks:
Working as an assistant to our Web Administrator, the candidate would:
• Create HTML, CSS, and web ready image files from Photoshop, Illustrator, or Indesign files.
• Validate HTML, CSS.
• Create Javascript and ensure compatibility with existing code
Qualifications and Experience:
As well as a HIGH interest in the overall operation of the business, the candidate must have:
Good working knowledge of Adobe Dreamweaver essential
X/HTML and CSS experience essential
Good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop essential
Design background a plus
Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS) a plus
Strong organizational skills
Strong grammar and proofreading skills
impeccable attention to detail
An interest in Flash design or creation
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite or equivalent
The ability to work on your own and your own initiative
Ability to work as a team and willingness to get stuck into a wide range of tasks
Salary and Location: This is an unpaid internship opportunity. The chosen candidate will work at Youth Culture office at 401 Richmond Street West Suite 245.
