Commercial Lines Underwriter Toronto (close to Agincourt)
POSITION DESCRIPTION: Underwrite risks with Lloyd’s for commercial and (occasionally) personal clients. Provide or delegate administrative services, alert the Quality Specialist of all Claims, and the brokers to issues requiring action or communication with the clients.
1. UNDERWRIITE NEW BUSINESS AND RENEWALS
a. Shadow and then take over the duties of the retiring Underwriter
b. Receive submissions from Account Managers
c. Provides the quotes and Bind the risks
d. Supervise the Account Administrator in preparation of paperwork and the Bordereau
e. Act as Account Manager to sell and service own accounts to grow the volume of business.
2. RENEWALS
a. Complete renewal declarations
b. Attach wordings
c. Invoice (if not delegated)
d. Prepare covering letters (if not delegated)
3. NEW BUSINESS
a. Insert wordings
b. Invoice (if not delegated)
c. Prepare covering letters (if not delegated)
4. ENDORSEMENTS
a. Issue declaration
b. Invoice (if not delegated)
c. Prepare covering letters (if not delegated)
5. CANCELLATIONS
a. Issue declaration
b. Invoice (if not delegated)
c. Prepare covering letters (if not delegated)
6. MONTHLY REPORTING
a. Lineage - All transactions recorded for the month on a daily Excel Bordereau
i. New business and Renewals
b. Summary - All transactions
7. CLAIMS HANDLING
a. Open claims file / assign adjuster / notify Quality Specialist
b. Maintain claim status from open until closed
c. Lineage - All transactions recorded for the month on a daily Excel Bordereau
i. New and closed claims
ii. Update reserves, client contact information and description of loss
d. Report to Lloyd’s
e. Liaison between Lloyd’s and adjuster, as well as claimant and adjuster, as required
QUALIFICATIONS:
Casualty coverage experience
R.I.B.O. license preferred
ACIP or equivalent, or the majority of courses completed
General business training and minimum of five year’s of commercial insurance experience
