Toronto Agency Seeks Visual Web Designer

About Us

We're a boutique web marketing, branding, & design agency based in Queen West that works with small businesses in all industries to generate amazing results from the internet. Our client base is expanding quickly to include some really cool international clients and we're looking for design talent to match. Our flagship service, Dentaware.com, designs & markets custom websites that help dentists and dental centres generate new patients online and we will be launching a number of new web brands in this year. We're young, hip, expanding fast, and fun to work with. A good designer will find a great opportunity for learning, growth, and potential project management roles with us.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for talented visual web designers to help us with the increased demand for dental and small business website design. You will mostly be responsible for creating great looking PSD web layouts and designs. In-depth programming skills are an asset but not a requirement because our development team handles most of the website slicing. You will start as an independent contractor, paid on a project-by-project basis, with the opportunity to go full time as responsibility increases. We pay competitively and value our team members. You'll have your own desk at our great Queen/Spadina office that you can use weekdays from 9am - 6pm. Because we love teamwork and synergy, you'll probably like to work with us on the premises, but you will have the freedom to work from home or wherever you are most productive. If you'd like, you're welcome to attend our morning meetings. We will let you know when face-to-face time is required.

Typical Responsibilities for Each Project

You will work with the the project manager (PM) / creative director on the following:

Creating & configuring hosting accounts on our server, registering, transferring, & configuring domains, insalling & configuring Wordpress, setting up Google Apps, etc. (instructions will be provided)
Creating wireframes (probably using Balsamiq) & PSD designs based on client notes & quicky delivering revisions. You will also be expected to write detailed directions f or our programmers who will turn your PSD designs into high quality HTML&CSS Wordpress customizations. (you may help with code execution if you have experience with HTML/CSS/Wordpress)
Laying out, designing, & directing of storyboards for Flash or jQuery animations and writing detailed directions for our animators to bring your concepts to life (you may choose to execute the Flash yourself if you have the experience)
Doing thorough quality assurance & browser compatibility testing (our equipment or yours) on projects and work with our suppliers to make revisions to prep for client review
Providing ongoing support and performing ongoing website maintenance & occasional design tasks for existing clients
