Rapidly growing game development firm seeks Senior Database Engineer!
Senior Database Engineer
You will be responsible for large scale distributed database, data warehouse, cube and ETL design and implementation for our platform using MS SQL Server 2008 on Windows Server 2008. The Senior Database Engineer will be assessed on overall database cost efficiency and delivery of requested features in a timely manner. The Senior Database Engineer will act as a role model for software developers and other users of the database system, providing design guidance and best practices. He/She will also work closely with the system operations team to deploy, administer and maintain all database and database related production systems.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for large scale distributed database, data warehouse and cube development.
Responsible for mentoring other engineers on database development best practices.
Responsible for ensuring deployments will meet scale objectives.
Responsible for enhancements and fixes to current production deployments.
Responsible for report development.
Assist Operations team in day to day monitoring and administration of production deployments.
Assist the Operations team in hardware provisioning to meet scale demands.
Work with and enhance data captures from third party advertising data providers.
Partner with existing database team to achieve above said responsibilities.
Technical Skills:
MS SQL Server, Analysis Services and Reporting Services 2008.
Database tuning, profiling and performance monitoring.
In depth knowledge of distributed databases and architectures.
SAN and direct attached storage experience.
C#, Ruby and Perl authoring and maintenance.
Required Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong analytical, planning and problem solving skills.
Ability to provide accurate estimates for project related work.
Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities.
Experience in leading small, highly-capable technical teams a plus.
Qualifications:
5+ years experience with SQL Server 2005/2008. (at least 1 year hands on experience with 2008)
5+ years experience with Analysis Services and Reporting Services 2005/2008. (1yr 2008)
5+ years experience in data warehousing and data modeling architectures and techniques.
2+ years experience in application development focused on application and database interactions.
Candidates with Microsoft Certified Database Administrator certification are strongly preferred.
BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent.
Location: Toronto, Ontario, in the heart of the entertainment district near Adelaide St W. and John St.
