Our client, a leader in the financial services industry is currently looking to add a Solutions Architect to their dynamic fast paced and growing team. This global organization is looking for a proactive, enthusiastic individual who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, you will be responsible for:
Architecting and designing a variety of transaction processing solutions (They are an MS shop transitioning to SOA, Java, OpenSource. Currently they have a few in house applications in .Net but the core payment system is in C/C++.)
Defining and researching solutions, services, frameworks and components to fit within a SOA-based architecture
Defining and managing deliverables developed in-house and off/near shore
Recommending architectural standards associated with our SDLC
Coaching and advising the development team on design principles
This position reports to the Chief, Architecture and Standards and requires an individual who enjoys the challenge of working in the fast-paced, high-pressure transaction processing industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with the Product Management team in translating business requirements into high-quality architectural and high-level designs, taking into consideration the overall strategic vision and design standards
Responsible for the architecture and design of application systems, solutions, products and integration
Review and improve on existing systems design, making use of new technologies and methodologies to seek continual improvement
Provide high level guidance, direction, and design review on project work, making sure the new projects fit in with an overall strategic vision
Work with software development leads on detailed designs for the projects undertaken
Serve as a resource to all teams in evaluating and proposing technical solution alternatives to various product-related issues related to Sales & Marketing, Finance, HR, Risk Management, Product Management, Business Operations, etc.
Education and Experience:
University degree in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
Minimum 3-5 years related experience with Transaction products and solutions such as payment processing, debit card or credit card systems an asset
Minimum 3 years experience as an Application/Solutions Architect
Key Skills Required:
Competency with Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Web Services & Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and Unified Modeling Language (UML)
Experience with middleware technologies such as IBM Websphere MQSeries/Message Broker/Tibco/Weblogic or Webmethods an asset
Knowledgeable of RDBMS (SQL) with preferred experience in Microsoft SQL Server and/or detailed knowledge of other RDBMS |
