The Opportunity…
We currently have a great opportunity in our Training department for an experienced training specialist with a strong Technical background to join our team. The Technical Training Specialist will be responsible for training and education through classroom and other learning formats in computer-based, multimedia, and Web-based technologies, and for directly contributing to Markel’s ability to meet its standards and objectives. The incumbent will develop and deliver technical training initiatives, sourcing the most cost effective training solutions and designing, delivering and evaluating training and training alternatives for technology.
You have…
• Minimum requirements include a Bachelor’s degree and certification in Adult Education.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience with demonstrated teaching capability in a corporate environment.
• Strong technical skills with a minimum of 3 years experience facilitating technical applications.
• Ability to generate own courseware, on-line help and curriculum materials. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Windows XP, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Project, Sharepoint), Visio, Adobe InDesign, Captivate, SnagIt and MS Project.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality with respect to staff performance deficiencies and knowledge gaps.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills are required with a proven ability to develop and maintain a strong network of individuals and groups capable of providing the information, resources, and support as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp, apply and provide training on new technologies and applications. Staying current with respect to knowledge and technical skills is essential.
• Excellent presentation skills are required with the ability to speak in front of large or small audiences. Must have the ability to field a variety of questions from participants.
• Excellent technical writing skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and the proven ability to balance multiple tasks and projects.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks and a results-oriented approach.
• Ability to develop imaginative solutions and new ways of thinking about situations, problems and opportunities.
• Experience with design and delivery of applications for the purpose of e-learning is a definite asset.
• Previous experience designing and delivering training for a major technical implementation would be an asset.
• Previous experience in Insurance and/or fluent bilingualism (English / French) are definite assets.
