Sr. Reports Developer
Overall Role
Reporting to the Manager, ERP Systems, the Senior Report Developer has broad responsibility for reporting of information to Firm decision makers and users of firm data. The primary objectives for this position are to develop reports, bill templates (both for paper bills and electronic bills) and ad hoc queries from the CMS database and specific data warehouse. As time goes on this role will evolve to include reporting from other systems including HR Systems and CRM. In addition to this role, this position will be instrumental in the transition of current warehouse and reporting to a Reporting Services/Sharepoint platform. Overall, this is a strategic position seen to help users of information gain better access to data to improve Firm decision-making and provide superior service to our clients.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum two years business computing diploma or equivalent
Minimum 5 years experience working in a report development and ad hoc query providing role
Superior skills in SQL query writing in an MS SQL environment
Advanced working knowledge of reporting tools such as Reporting Services, Crystal Reports or Access. Special consideration will be given to those with Reporting Services experience or Report Writer (CMS report writing tool)
A solid understanding of financial data and report balancing processes
Experience with data warehouse design and data modeling
Advanced experience with working with end users to gather specifications and translate those into technical requirements
Experience with importing and exporting data using DTS, SSIS or other tools.
Experience with CMS
Aderant Expert (Aderant’s Time and Billing System) Report Writer and Docudraft is an asset
Experience in a legal professional services environment an asset
An expert working knowledge of Word and Excel
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop reports using CMS reporting tool (Report Writer) and Reporting Services (SSRS)
Assist HR Team with reporting queries in HR System
Develop Bill and Prebill templates using CMS Docudraft development tool set in and Word environment
Write ad hoc sql queries as per end user requirements accessing the CMS data or data warehouse
Work with end users to gather specifications and translate those into technical requirements
Recommend new reports and inquiries based on ad hoc query requests
Play an active role on the project team to transition to a new data warehouse and reporting toolsets (SSRS)
Support the current BLG data warehouse and financial module application
Develop reporting standards for sources of information and recommend actions to ensure data integrity of core system.
Ensure confidential data is held securely and distributed to appropriate users
Prepare technical and operational/procedural documentation and specifications

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Operating Systems: Windows 2000, XP
Languages: SQL (in MS SQL Server environment), Docudraft, Basic Script (Visual Basic)
Software: CMS, Excel, Word, Reporting Tools (Report Writer, Reporting Services (SSRS) or Crystal Reports), DTS or SSIS, Report Manager (or other report distribution software),
RDBMS: MS SQL Server 2000 and 2005
