Business Analyst - Financial Services
Our banking client is looking for an energetic and results-oriented technical Business Analyst to support the implementation of applications to meet the needs of
their Wealth Management and Private Client groups.
You will be responsible for the following:
1.Research and analysis leading to the completion of complex functional specifications (External Design Documents)
2.Independently resolving and documenting complex problems to meet business needs
3.Creating, documenting and executing test cases
4.Continually acquiring and enhancing knowledge of wealth business strategies, policies, risk management methodologies and practices, product offerings,
financial markets and financial instruments
5.Participating in walkthroughs of applications during various stages of the project
6.Providing guidance and advice to developers to meet project objectives
7.Understanding interfaces with current Bank systems
8.Actively participating in the systems implementation process
Qualifications:
Good knowledge of financial instruments, including market conventions and valuation methods, and risk management methodologies and models including best
practices, current and anticipated regulatory requirements, back office processes, and the end-to-end workflows among the front, middle, and back offices, within
at least one financial market area (e. g. equities, commodities, trading) and a good knowledge of at least one other financial market area.
A creative, self starter, results-oriented and highly motivated individual with excellent analytical skills, with the ability to apply this knowledge to assist in the
resolution of complex business problems.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to effectively liaise with business users and members of project team.
Effective time management and organization skills with the ability to use diplomacy, judgement, and persuasion to secure agreement and co-operation from
business users and a dynamic project team.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft suite of products
Very good understanding of current IT practices and systems development techniques, including system specifications and testing methodologies
Good working knowledge of databases such as Oracle, Sybase
Experience with PL/SQL, UNIX, JAVA, XML, HTML, and Visual Basic a definite asset
Experience with Use cases, UML, Rational Rose, Requisite Pro a definite asset
EDUCATION/ACCREDITATIONS:
A recognized under-graduate degree in business, computers, economics, mathematics or a related discipline
7-10 years of practical experience
Canadian Securities course a definite asset
